NEMA

Every fall, year-round members of the museum staff pack their bags and head to the annual conference of the New England Museum Association (NEMA). It’s a great opportunity for us to learn about new museum programs and initiatives from our colleagues at other museums and a chance for us to share what is happening at Strawbery Banke. The conference ensures that we remain relevant not only to our visitors, but within the museum field.

This year, the conference was virtual and certain sessions were recorded, which gives me the opportunity to share with all of you. Here are the videos for the keynote by the Director of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Michael Bobbitt, a session on narrative and inclusive spaces with Erica Wheeler, museum consultant, and a session on the success and failures of the Maine Maritime Museum’s newest ed programs, which I thought might be of interest to museum teachers. You can find many more videos, including recordings from the 2020 virtual conference, on NEMA’s youtube channel
